THE ARTS AND CRAFTS MOVEMENT and subsequent building of bungalows and Craftsman homes brought nationally distributed Arts and Crafts furniture and goods to local merchants and entrepreneurs. In this highly competitive arena, exclusivity was highly desirable.

Marston's department store was the sole agent for "Original and Genuine Craftsman Furniture." Gustav Stickley Company furnishings were highly sought after and Mr. Stickley naturally chose Marston's, the region's premier department store.

In the 1920s, Spanish Revival architecture and furnishings became all the rage and Marston's devoted an entire room to showcase the style.
