Rug Department
Marston's was the place for all home décor, and its carpet and rug department on the fourth floor was an extensive one. c.1920s
A knowledgeable purveyor of rugs and carpets, Marston's had been dealing in them since the 1890s. As this San Diego Union ad (9/24/1894) read: "Our East Sixth Street Store is a Carpet Store and a right big one (80x100) it is too."
You'll find five carpet knights over there exceedingly busy just now. All these new residences and flats must be furnished, and the Marston stock is very rarely turned down by unprejudiced buyers.
