Sponsorship Opportunities

Are interested in learning how you can be a sponsor of what is now the largest single event for preservation enthusiasts and historic homeowners in Southern California?

For businesses not yet familiar with Save Our Heritage Organisation (SOHO), a quick overview is provided here.

SOHO is the only preservation organization overseeing all of San Diego County and has been preserving and protecting San Diego's Heritage since 1969. As the region's preservation voice we have been advising, promoting and educating the public on San Diego's rich architectural and cultural heritage for almost 40 years and we are a local partner with the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Some of the buildings we are responsible for saving are nothing less than San Diego's foremost icons. Among these is the Santa Fe Depot downtown and much of the Gaslamp Quarter, which includes the Irving Gill Horton Plaza fountain that serves as our logo having saved it three times! Added to the list is the Western Metal Supply Building, which because of its preservation and inclusion in the Padres' ballpark, has made that ballpark one of the most famous in the country along with ten other warehouse buildings within that area and so much more. There are few areas of San Diego that contain historic resources that we have not had a hand in helping.

Today's demographic of the old house owner is no longer made up of just the staunch preservationist, but now consists primarily of people who want to live in quality surroundings with the character and crafted details that can only be found in an older home. They want to live in neighborhoods that are diverse architecturally and where their home is different from those of their neighbors. Whether urban or rural, throughout all of San Diego County, historic buildings in neighborhoods, downtowns, and industrial areas are all being sought after for restoration, renovation or rehabilitation.

SOHO helps homeowners daily, fielding questions from how to designate their homes to how to restore them. We keep a Resource Directory filled with contractors, architects and other specialists and agencies that we give to the old house owner to assist them throughout their renovation or restoration. SOHO is the go to source for anyone interested in historic architecture in San Diego and our annual event is the most anticipated event of the year for these same people. We invite you to be a sponsor of our event and to help us continue the fine work we do and at the same time reap the benefits of having your name and your business known to the old house market. Take a look at the current statistics below and at the many levels of sponsorship opportunities we provide.

Traditional Builders, the national publication for the professional preservation industry has posted these demographics showing that historic preservation is a foremost economic force

  • $77.7 billion in the Institutional Rehab and additions market
  • $37.1 billion in the Commercial/Industrial Rehab and additions market
  • $47.7 billion in the Old House Restoration and Renovations market

As homeowners are looking more and more to live in traditional neighborhoods and with the growing interest in preservation of 20th century structures, experts predict that by the year 2010 the historic preservation industry will represent 80% of the construction market.

SOHO Members / Attendee Demographic Overview
The 3,000 plus visitors to SOHO's annual weekend events are typically dual-income professionals who own historic homes, and who are passionate about and highly motivated to restore and decorate them in period fashion. Additional information regarding SOHO members and event attendees show that
