Opuntia littoralis is common to the Southern California and Baja California, Mexico coastal regions. In Latin "littoral" is defined as "of or pertaining to the shore of a lake, sea, or ocean." It forms in a low lying and sprawling characteristic with yellow flowers, important to bee pollination. Endemic to the San Diego region, opuntia littoralis is right at home in Presidio Park.
