Ochna serrulata
MICKEY MOUSE PLANT
Ochnaceae family
E coast South Africa (Natal)
Ochna, a derivation of the Greek word meaning wild pear and serrulata, a reference to the serrated structure of the leaves. This South African native is endemic to the eastern coast of South Africa and can be found from altitudes of 5000 feet down to sea level. The flowers are two-toned and resemble the shape of the classic Disney character, Mickey Mouse, thus its common name.
