Some Native American tribes are known to have used Mimulus aurantiacus for the healing of scrapes and burns. In cultivation, it is a popular species for native gardens and drought tolerant landscapes. Endemic to a large part of California, northern Baja and southern Oregon, the flowers produced vary from yellow, orange to dark red.
