Kniphofia uvaria
TORCH LILY
Asphodelaceae family
S South Africa
This South African species is known for its vibrant display. In spring or early summer, it produces an inflorescence that is conical in shape and fades red to orange from the top down. It has been introduced throughout the world and has become naturalized in many places where mostly it is not considered a weed. However, in places such as Southern Australia it is considered a noxious weed.
