Eucalyptus erythronema WHITE MALLEE
This beautiful mallee, sometimes called the red-flowered mallee, has showy red flowers and is called a white mallee due to its smooth distinctive white bark. New bark can be a pale green or even pinkish in color. It is relatively small compared to other Eucalyptus species reaching maximum heights of 25 feet. A mallee is a small tree with multiple stocks with the canopy at the top. The Eucalyptus erythronema is a great specimen. Mallee forests comprise one of Australia's most vital ecosystems. Presidio Park has several Eucalyptus erythronema growing on its most western slopes. |
