First described by George Bentham in 1867 from a specimen collected by explorer Allan Cunningham this is a common Eucalyptus found on the western slopes of the New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria's coastal mountain ranges. The white box can reach heights of more than 80 feet, has white flowers, its wood is used for fences and construction, and its flowers are useful for honey production. Presidio Park has one large Eucalyptus albens growing near the intersection of Presidio Drive and Jackson Street.
