Dombeya wallichii flowers in the winter and puts out a large cluster of pink flowers that linger over the summer turning light brown. Native to Madagascar, East Africa and parts of India this planting was part of the original Presidio Park plantings per Percy Broell's 1937 manuscript. The genus Dombeya is named after Joseph Dombey, an 18th-century French botanist, doctor, and explorer.
