Cupaniopsis anacardioides
CARROTWOOD
Sapindaceae family
ENE Australia
A medium sized tree growing up to 35 feet tall, it has an inner orange bark, thus its common name. This east Australian native grows exclusively in the coastal zones from New South Wales northward to the farthest reaches of Australia, at the Torres Strait. Small grape like fruits of yellow and orange form after small white spring flowers. Cupaniopsis anacardioides was most likely introduced into the United States in the early 1950s.
