This slow growing large species, can potentially reach heights of 100 feet in its native southern China, Taiwan, Japan, and the Korean peninsula region. Designated a Category I invasive species in Florida, it has become naturalized in many warmer U.S. climates such as California. Traditionally, Cinnamomum camphora has been used in spices, a component in incense, and for medicinal uses. Its oils are used today in perfumes, insecticides, explosives, and deodorants.
