Sometimes confused with or mistaken for Acacia armata, this thorny plant is a native wattle of Southeast Australia. In its native Australia it is an important shelter for small birds, rabbits and a food source for bees and moths. Its earliest known cultivation for the purposes of landscape development is in Victoria 1857.
