WELCOME TO the People In Preservation Awards, SOHO's annual salute to the inspiring individuals who have achieved greatness in preserving our region's rich and diverse heritage.
We thank you for coming to our virtual event to celebrate these distinguished groups and individuals. This year marks SOHO's second year of hosting our awards virtually, and we are gratified to honor resourceful preservationists who have persevered through these difficult times. We are so glad that you are with us to celebrate the meaningful achievements of our winners today. The work of a preservationist never ends, and we are inspired by our winners' ongoing efforts to protect and preserve the history and culture of San Diego.
May is National Preservation Month, which is why we celebrate our historic preservation heroes at this time every year. As the strongest historic preservation advocate in San Diego County, SOHO maintains impeccably high standards in the projects it recognizes, and the PIP awards are the region's most respected preservation honors.
This event is one we look forward to each spring. Now in our 38th year of presenting the awards, it remains truly uplifting to see all that has been accomplished. I'd like to extend my personal congratulations to all of our winners.
Please enjoy the following awards presentations by SOHO Senior Historic Resources Specialist Amie Hayes, followed by a few words from our winners, as you click on each winner's page. Finally, thank you very much for supporting SOHO's crucial mission in San Diego County.
Special thanks to the PIP production and writing team, Marlena Krcelich, Historic Resources Specialist and Education Coordinator; Sandé Lollis, Audio Visual Production Manager; with editorial support from Ann Jarmusch and Alana Coons.
