San Diego Archaeological Center
Piecing Together the Past Award
Under our noses and underfoot, thousands of clues are being unearthed throughout the county about our forebears and how their prehistoric ancestors lived. Making sense of thousands of artifacts, preserving them and presenting them to the public, students, and international scholars are among the things the San Diego Archaeological Center does best. They are the only local organization dedicated to the collection, study, curation and exhibition of San Diego County's archaeological artifacts.
This organization has grown and broadened in imaginative ways, such as inventive exhibitions that spotlight people and moments in San Diego's 245-year-old history. These experts are also keepers and interpreters of items and materials left behind by people who roamed this area as long as 10,000 years ago.
