The Wilson Family
Spirit of Place
Contributing to Ocean Beach's emerging historic district is the recently restored Craftsman bungalow on Bacon Street. The house was constructed in 1922 as one of four nearly identical, side-by-side rental properties. The current owners' understanding and appreciation of the history of Ocean Beach is evident in the amount of preliminary research, craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into its restoration. In addition to exterior and interior restoration, the work also included reintroducing historic landscaping and discrete ADA wheelchair access. The owners have done an excellent job of rescuing this 1920s beach bungalow, and have made an important contribution to the preservation of Ocean Beach's historic neighborhood character.
