Mockingbird members include Tara Alvarado on vocals playing snare and hi hat, Diego Alvarado on Telecaster guitar and vocals, and they've recently added their son Diego to the group on bass. They have worked with many talented musicians, but finally found their true sound once they pared down to the heart of the music. The simplified instruments push them to play creatively and twice as hard, substantiating the statement "less is more."
Mockingbird is a trio that fills up the room. Playing throughout San Diego County in local bars, cafés, car shows, and charity events for over ten years, their playlist is extensive yet eclectic. They give a unique spin to covers that span everything from Johnny Cash to the Violent Femmes, fusing them all together with their large collection of original tunes. They are currently working on their album including songs, Picture of You and Lover, recently played on KPRI 102.1 Homegrown Hour.
