Wills and Revocable (Living) Trusts
Charitable gifts by way of bequests in wills and revocable trusts are probably the simplest and most familiar form of planned giving. A bequest in a will or revocable trust will not tie up any assets during the lifetime of the donor. Such gifts can include cash, securities, real property or other specific property. Please see Suggested Wording for Wills and Trusts for sample language to effectuate a bequest. Gifts to SOHO made by bequests in wills and revocable trusts are not subject to estate taxes, and therefore can reduce the donor's estate tax liability.
