Marron Adobe
The oldest house in Carlsbad, the Marron Adobe, was first threatened by a freeway, then a quarry. Although the Trust for Public Land has talked about adding it to the Calavera Reserve, Corky McMillin Company now wants to develop housing on the area's last piece of unspoiled land. Still owned and lived in by the original family, the new development is currently going through the Environmental Impact Report process, raising the concern of Native Americans, Preserve Calavera, and other wildlife groups.
