MARSTON'S MAXIM was to keep its patrons and employees foremost in mind. Always an elegant shopping experience with fresh flowers kept in abundance throughout the store, there was a reading room stocked with the latest fashion magazines, and even a children's play corner. At the 50th anniversary opening in 1928, George remarked to the crowd, "Marston's is the product of the community…You want 'goods,' a word that means all the best things in the world. So we have for you not only merchandise, but music and flowers, history and art, things useful and things beautiful."
