Arthur Marston
Arthur is riding his horse named Kitty in front of and facing the Marston carriage house, circa 1906. The Marston House was originally addressed as 3501 7th Street and the carriage house had its own address as 3501 1/2 7th Street. The rock in the foreground is still in the pittosporum between the driveway and carriage house.
The house behind Arthur, across the street to the right side of the photo is the Alice Lee and Katherine Teats South Cottage. The official but incorrect name on the historic designation is the "Teats House (No. 1)." The address is currently 3560 7th Avenue. The original drawings are titled "Cottage for Miss Teats." However, both Alice Lee and Katherine Teats owned the property and commissioned the house.
The house on the left that fronts on 6th Avenue no longer exists. It was built by Charles S. Hamilton (George Marston's former partner and brother-in-law) but is not historically called the Charles Hamilton House. It was originally addressed 3575 6th Street but was later changed to 3561 6th Avenue. The apartments that are currently on the site are addressed as 3563 6th Avenue.
