San Diego Chapter of the Landmarks Club
George founded the San Diego chapter of the Landmarks Club, which provided fiscal aid, and stabilized, restored and rebuilt sites. These included the Mission San Diego de Alcalá, Asistencia San Antonio de Pala (purchased, restored, and returned to the Kumeyaay) and Mission San Luis Rey. In 1931, legislators made the landmark program the official state historic site register.
