This October, immerse your family in San Diego’s rich history at two of its most cherished historic sites—the Marston House Museum and Warner-Carrillo Ranch House. Kids 12 and under get in FREE all month with a paid adult! In addition to these SOHO-operated gems, dozens more museums are participating in this program throughout San Diego County.
 Introduce your children to the magic of history at the Marston House Museum & Gardens. This beautifully preserved 1905 home and spacious grounds showcase the Arts and Crafts movement in a way that's both educational and enchanting for young visitors. Kids love exploring the 8,500-square-foot house, imagining life here 100 years ago. The museum teaches children about architecture, design, and San Diego's rich cultural history through the story of George and Anna Marston and their five children, who once called this fairy tale-like mansion home.
You can also step back in time with your family at the Warner-Carrillo Ranch House, a living piece of Wild West history in Warner Springs. This 1857 adobe, built by a woman rancher and once a Butterfield Stage stop, brings the excitement of the frontier to life for children. Young history buffs will be thrilled to stand in the same spots where weary travelers rested from their uncomfortable, bumpy journeys across the country long ago. The ranch house provides an engaging way to teach kids about the emigrant trail, stagecoach travel, and early California ranching. While exploring, visitors can also learn about the area's earlier, Native American inhabitants, adding depth to the site's rich history. It's an adventure into the past that sparks imagination and makes history tangible for visitors of all ages, offering a glimpse into the diverse stories that shaped this remarkable region.
Up to two children ages 12 and under can enjoy free admission with one full-price adult ticket when you present a San Diego Museum Council coupon upon arriving at either museum in October 2024.
