Santa Ysabel Indian Mission Turns 200!
September/October 2018
Santa Ysabel Mission Chapel |
Congratulations to the Santa Ysabel Indian Mission! This mission is an asistencia, a sub-mission of the Mission San Diego de Alcalá and will be commemorating 200 years on September 20, 2018.
Commemoration events will help support the current nomination effort to list the asistencia on the National Register of Historic Places, as well as restore the chapel and overall site. The current chapel was constructed in 1924 and there is still evidence of the original adobe tile floor.
The bicentennial will begin with an outdoor religious service followed by brunch on September 16, 2018 at 10am. This will include a rededication of the chapel and grounds. A harvest festival will be held October 20 beginning at 10am, featuring historical information about the site, food, games, vendors, and entertainment. Join the mission's new Facebook page and keep up with all of the festivities!
The mission is located at 23013 Highway 79. If you are interested in being a vendor, please contact Cindy at (760) 587-8388.
