What is the CHRID?
July/August 2022
Developed through the California State Office of Historic Preservation's Certified Local Government Grant Program, the California Historical Resources Inventory Database (CHRID) promotes and protects cultural heritage by documenting and sharing information on historical resources via the internet.
The City of San Diego uses the CHRID for the management of information related to the city's historical resources. View the home page for the San Diego CHRID.
To Perform a Search
- Click on Search for Historic Properties
- On the page that opens, you can search by different criteria, such as the address, architect, builder, Historical Resources Board name, and more.
- As an example, enter North Park Theater in the HRB name box, then click on enter.
- Results display below. To see the report, click on any of the search result links.
Currently, the CHRID includes information about historical resources that have been designated or listed in the National Register between 2009 and the present, and some resources that have been identified as part of a community plan update historical survey.
This information is entered, maintained, and hosted by the City of San Diego and contains information on historic resources within the city. The information does not comprise the complete list of designated historical resources or all resources identified during historic surveys. Additional historical resources are added as they become available. Find more information on the City’s website.
The City encourages the public’s use of the CHRID and invites you, if you have questions or find errors, to email staff at historicalresources@sandiego.gov.
