Bumann Ranch, which dates to 1886, in Encinitas is one of the last remaining, still-active homestead ranches in San Diego County and it is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Remarkably, the buildings, machinery, and other contents are entirely original and unchanged. The family has owned the ranch for three generations and Richard and Twink Bumann still live there on 10 of the original 160 acres.
Thank you to everyone who wrote to the State Historical Resources Commission in November 2019 to support the nomination of this rare treasure!
