SOHO is excited to have participated in the San Diego Architectural Foundation's 4th annual Open House (OH!) San Diego tours one weekend in March. We invited residents and visitors on free guided tours of the Marston House Museum & Gardens exterior architecture and grounds, and offered a discount on museum admission.

OH! expands into more San Diego communities each year and celebrates architecture, urban design, landscape architecture, and the built environment by allowing access into both historic and modern buildings at no charge. This program is an excellent way to visit historic building interiors throughout San Diego. We encourage you to take advantage of this diverse, far-flung opportunity next year: you devise your own tour route and provide your own transportation.

Some real gems were open this year and may be again next year. In Bankers Hill, the Barcelona Apartments (326 Juniper Street) and the Abbey (2825 Fifth Avenue) opened their doors. La Valencia Hotel (1132 Prospect Street) and the La Jolla Historical Society's Wisteria Cottage (780 Prospect Street) welcomed visitors in La Jolla. And in Point Loma, folks could stop in at the Jennings House Café (1018 Rosecrans Street) and Mieras Hall, which remains from the historic Theosophical Institute and is now part of Point Loma Nazarene University.

SOHO hopes to participate annually and we look forward to seeing what neighborhoods with historic resources will be added in 2020!
