Historic Homes Moving to East Village

With SOHO's support on March 19, the City Council unanimously approved the relocation and rehabilitation of two designated historical resources at 719 and 721 14th Street. The Murray Apartments (at 719) were constructed in 1903 at an unknown location and moved to 14th Street during the 1920s. The 1890s Daggett Family Residence (721) was relocated in the 1940s from nearby G Street.

The two buildings will be integrated into the East Village Green park project, and stay within the same block, moving from 14th to face onto F Street. SOHO supports this relocation because these buildings are not on their original sites, and will stay within East Village. Further, the new locations are compatible with the resources' original character and use and will reintroduce the previously lost residential setting along this part of F Street.
