Generations of San Diego residents have fond memories of Marston's Department Store. It was the premier place to shop in southern California for close to nine decades. From the lilac bouquets on the counters of the main floor to the delicious coconut cream pie served in the Tea Room on the top floor, Marston's was one of San Diego's quintessential family-owned and operated businesses. It enjoyed an unparalleled reputation from 1878 right through to the 1960s.
Save Our Heritage Organisation and the Marston House Museum will be celebrating the 140th anniversary of the department store in 2018. We will be mounting a new permanent exhibit featuring the significant contributions of the Marston family and the elegant store they created.
