It's Time for Tea
April 2016

A line of Marston House private label teas was introduced recently at our Tea & Chocolate Tasting in the lovely setting of the Marston House Gardens. It was one of the highlights of the event, and sales were quite brisk! Decorated with a vintage photograph of the Marston House, these fragrant teas will be sold exclusively at the carriage house gift shop on the museum grounds.

There are many delicious choices available. Signature commemorative canisters hold 20 tea bags. There are five different flavors. English Breakfast is a rich mellow blend of black tea from Ceylon and Kenya. White Peony is a light refreshing blend, young leaves plucked directly from the tea bush without any processing. Jasmine Green is a sweet aromatic blend with jasmine blossoms. Red Chai is a spicy rooibos with ginger, cardamom, and cinnamon. This tea was a particular audience favorite at the tasting. Relaxing Chamomile is caffeine free and made from delicate chamomile flowers. Each canister is reasonably priced at $12.95.

For those who prefer loose tea, there are attractive envelope packets that each hold one ounce of tea leaves. The choices are Passionfruit Peach, Mint Medley, Cinnamon Orange Spice, and Mango. These packets are $5.95 each.

With springtime weather coming up, the iced tea flavors should be popular. Raspberry and Peach are available, also $5.95 each. And finally, there is a cute little three-ounce tin of Cinnamon Sticks for $7.95.

All of these teas have been specially blended for the Marston House by Oliver Pluff & Co., a fine tea purveyor in Charleston, South Carolina. They specialize in creating heritage teas for historic sites around the country including, Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, Washington's Mount Vernon, Colonial Williamsburg, and George Vanderbilt's Biltmore Estate. So our Marston House Tea is in very good company!

The teas are quite unique and healthy, very attractive and moderately priced. They have great sales potential. Out-of town visitors will want them as souvenirs of their trip. Locals can give them as gifts to friends and neighbors, or just settle down at home and enjoy a nice, relaxing cuppa. And always keep in mind that the Marston House benefits with every tin and packet sold. So please help spread the word, it's time for tea!
