What's the very best form of advertising? You don't have to be a Madison Avenue exec to know that it is… word of mouth. And the best thing about it: it's easy and free. This is why we are asking SOHO members and supporters to help us spread the word about a special program at the Marston House. We offer groups of eight or more for a private tour of the museum on weekdays and weekends.
One of the most common responses we get from local visitors is "I have lived here my whole life and I never knew this was here!" They are amazed. So we have a lot of outreach work to do. And group tours are one very good way to help inform people and entice them to visit.
We know that you, our readers, are involved with many activities and organizations. Please consider putting in a good word with your book club, walking buddies, neighborhood watch group, parent association, sports team, or work colleagues. Ask them to consider organizing a visit to the beautiful Marston House Museum & Gardens. Spring is an especially lovely time to explore this gem of a landmark, listed on the National Historic Register.
It's an easy sell. Just let folks know the crucial role the Marston family played in the early development of the city and its parks. Tell them about the timeless beauty of the redwood and oak interior of the house. Describe the towering canary island pine trees in the front yard and the charming formal garden. Tell them, if you haven't been to the Marston House, you don't really know San Diego. Let's get started, one group at a time.
