After nearly a decade of deliberation and discussion, a list of those buried at the Presidio, both native and immigrant, was placed in the Presidio Park kiosk near the Serra Museum in late 2018. The source was the Catholic Church Burial Register. This recognition for those who rest here is an important first step until a permanent monument can be financed, designed, and installed.

The posting of this list is a major event for many who have ancestors buried at this founding site of California. The dedication reads:

Here, in this Park, lie the remains of the original residents of the Presidio, both native and immigrant, of this original settlement that would later become the City of San Diego. Below is a list of the individuals who helped create the community, lived their lives here, and were buried in these Presidio grounds. These people came from and represent places all over the world. Importantly, their lives were dedicated to help build this community.

As 2019 marks the 250th commemoration of San Diego and California, SOHO encourages you to visit Presidio Park and honor and remember those who came before us.
