San Diego Historic District Amendments in Progress
In January, the City of San Diego Historical Resources Board (HRB) began the new year with a workshop to discuss proposed amendments to the historic district designation process, which were initially brought to the board in October 2018. Three changes were proposed: Shifting the entity to hear appeals from the City Council to the Planning Commission, adding a de novo hearing, and requiring a majority of property owners' consent. After hearing nearly unanimous opposition, the HRB staff is revising the proposal and will bring another draft back to the HRB later.
