Golden Hill Victorian
2460 B Street, San Diego
The primary threat to the 1897 Clark McKee/William Stewart House is demolition by neglect. Abandoned and unsecured, this historic site is in a state of disrepair that has reached critical levels. Large, gaping holes in the roof have hastened the building's deteriorating structural integrity for several years.
Beloved in the neighborhood, this house was nominated by the community for this year’s list. They noted the imminent risk of squatters entering and potentially causing further damage or even arson. The community has reached out to the owners numerous times, without response. Given the current climate of demolition and hyper-development, the four-parcel lot is highly attractive to developers and is an important resource, having graced Golden Hill for over a century.
Call to Action Preserving our historical and cultural heritage is a shared responsibility. It is imperative that concerned individuals and relevant authorities step in to protect this invaluable resource from imminent, and unnecessary, danger. Contact your local representative and let them know how you feel about this beloved community resource.
