Red Roost and Red Rest Bungalows

Overlooking La Jolla Cove and simply constructed of redwood in 1894 they are among the very few remaining examples of La Jolla's early development as an art colony and vacation haven. Decrepit and decaying before our eyes, they are the subjects of SOHO's longest running preservation battle. For over 17 years SOHO has stalled their demolition. Now finally the cottages have new owners, and we are optimistic that their interest is to restore and preserve them and we stand ready to assist the new owners in any way we can. Let's bring the Red Roost and Red Rest out from under their massive roof tarps and plywood shields, and give them back their rightful pride of place at La Jolla Cove.
