The Henry B. Jones House at 4040 Fifth Avenue is perhaps the last residence remaining from the original Hillcrest development, and it appears to be under siege. Built in 1911, this historic landmark now stands boarded up and fenced in on Scripps Mercy Hospital property. The hospital backed away from demolition plans after SOHO and Hillcrest residents strenuously objected, but the future of this once charming home still looks murky and the community is worried.
