Jessica McGee - Treasurer
Prior to her retirement, Jessica worked for more than seventeen years at AT&T in San Francisco and Orlando, Florida. She was responsible for Western Region Treasury Operations offices and wrote employee financial instructions. She was also a co-owner of several retail stores in San Francisco. She served as a board member of both Orlando Landmark Defense, a local preservation group, and her neighborhood association, as well as treasurer of the Central Florida Chapter of the American Hibiscus Society.
A regular presence as a volunteer in the SOHO office for fourteen of her retired years, her fastidious financial oversight was crucial during the organization’s years of major growth. Her steadfast monitoring of the numbers and meticulous attention to detail contributed significantly to SOHO‘s financial stability, including a twenty-five-year exemplary record of finances in the black. Her reliable accounting expertise and vigilance enabled SOHO to carry out complex advocacy, legal, and educational campaigns. In addition, her insights, guidance, and passion helped shape SOHO’s strategies, decision-making processes, and human resources policies.
Jessica’s advocacy work finds her everywhere from the office to the boardroom, and from public testimony to the protest lines. Meanwhile, she has also managed to carefully restore and maintain her historic home in the Normal Heights neighborhood and become a master gardener able to advise SOHO on our museum’s gardens.
