Erik Hanson
Erik holds a BA in Theatre Design from SDSU with twenty years in theatre prop construction. An authority on Irving Gill, Erik is creator of many home tours including SOHO's popular Uptown Irving Gill Tour. His pioneering studies, analysis, and passion for the architecture and life of San Diego architect Irving Gill continue to support this innovative architect’s ascendance to Modernism’s pantheon locally, statewide, and nationally.
He has also consulted on various exhibit designs and interpretations, as well as contributing essays to catalogues that document Irving Gill. Having closely examined historic architecture by a host of prominent San Diego architects, he is an expert on historic building materials.
A historic homeowner, he and his wife, and past SOHO board member, Ingrid Helton, reside in San Diego’s South Park Historic District. Their home has been showcased in two important books on Arts and Crafts architecture.
