Endemic to the Mediterranean area this perineal evergreen herb and low shrub has needle like leaves with small white, pink or purple flowers. A member of the Lamiaceae or mint family the common name "Rosemary" derives its name from the Latin "ros" meaning "dew" and "marinus" meaning "of the sea" or dew of the sea. This aromatic shrub has been in culinary and medicinal use for thousands of years, with an equal number of uses. Being native to the Mediterranean region it is drought tolerant and an appropriate addition for xeriscape landscaping.
