Marston House Museum & Gardens
Why have the Marston House open for your wedding?

Touring the Marston House will add to the memories your guests have of your wedding and its beautiful location. The contracted payment for the tours will go directly to the fund that helps preserve the house and gardens for future generations.

The Tour
With a contract to open the Marston House, your friends and family members will enjoy one of San Diego's finest examples of the Arts and Crafts movement, which was constructed in 1905 for George W. Marston and his wife, Anna Gunn Marston. George Marston is recognized for many things but most prominently as a civic leader whose interest and work in historic preservation, conservation and history bears distinction.

The property was designed and built by the internationally renowned architects William Sterling Hebbard and Irving Gill. Surrounded by five acres of rolling lawns, manicured formal gardens, and rustic canyon gardens, this 8,500 square-foot home became a house museum in 1987 after the Marston family gifted it to the City of San Diego for the enjoyment of the public.

The Contract
The Marston House docent chairperson will provide your guests with experienced and informative docents during your cocktail reception for up to one and a half hours. The number of docents is based on your number of guests attending, usually between 4 and 6 docents. In order to increase the availability of docents for tours please give 6 weeks notice. Your guests who wish to see the interior of the house are led in small groups for a 30 minute tour. The small group tours are at the leisure of your guests and tour times are flexible according to their wishes. No food or beverages are allowed inside the house. A service tray is set by the front door for guests to leave their beverages while on their tour.
