Gifts of Real Estate

Real Estate, such as residential property, vacation homes, farms or vacant land can be donated to SOHO. Like gifts of appreciated securities, gifts of real property can also offer a two-part benefit to the donor. The sale of real estate which has appreciated in value would normally result in significant capital gains tax. By donating the appreciated real estate to SOHO, the donor can avoid capital gains tax and receive a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the property, up to 30% of adjusted gross income for the year of donation.

For property of historic or architectural value, please consider specifying that the gift is made to SOHO's Preservation Revolving Fund.
