An Evening at the PIPs

For the first time, the formal garden at the Marston House Museum served as the picturesque venue for the 2016 People In Preservation Awards. Roses were in full bloom and twilight views across the canyon were impressive. Lavender blossoms of a jacaranda tree seemed to float above the teahouse.

Round tables graced the lawn next to the teahouse, where photo boards for each winner were on display against the brick wall. The elegant black-and-white table motif highlighted floral arrangements with cuttings from the Marston garden and infused with extraordinary pink peonies. Larry Kuse was the talented designer whose 21 lavish yet organic centerpieces really wowed the guests as they arrived.

At the reception preceding the program, more than a hundred SOHO supporters and award winners mingled cheerfully on the lawn and in the teahouse, offering champagne toasts and catching up on the latest news in the preservation community.

Mouth-watering trays of cheeses and a scrumptious array of hors d'oeuvres were served. The roasted portabella sliders were a big hit! Next came the dessert trays! Guests were treated to heavenly tres leches shots and salted chocolate pots de crème.

When the enthusiastic audience was well satisfied with food and drink, the inspiring awards presentation began, with Diane Welch as emcee.

We are grateful to this year's generous PIP sponsors
