Scott L. Sandel
Growing up in a small town in Galveston County, Texas, Scott was in awe of the rich architectural history in Galveston where his paternal ancestors survived the Great Storm of 1900 that devastated the island.
With a BS in Landscape Architecture from Texas A & M University, he has a keen interest in the built landscape, including the often unappreciated site infrastructure of public spaces, such as streets and transportation systems, and pedestrian ways. His interests also include horticulture and garden design history, with special interest in the Arts and Crafts period and Modernism. Scott and his partner Jim Marich have restored their 1914 home in Mission Hills, which is under Mills Act protection. Scott is co-founder of the Ft. Stockton Line Historical District in Mission Hills and is a trustee on the Mission Hills Town Council.
