Board of DirectorsWelton Jones wrote about arts and entertainment for the San Diego Union-Tribune for 35 years before his retirement in 2001. Presently, he is working on two books and a play. Although he was present at the birth of SOHO 32 years ago, when Robert Miles Parker posted a notice on the Sherman-Gilbert house, he only recently became active as a SOHO member, joining the board of directors in October 2001. Jones also is a board member of the Committee of 100, guardians of the Spanish-Colonial architecture in Balboa Park. A captain in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, his other preservation interests include the San Diego Maritime Museum.
