Jaye Evangeline Furlonger was born and grew up on Vancouver Island, Canada. Since finishing high school, she has lived in Ottawa, Brooklyn and San Diego, where she relocated in 2003 to attend the Masters in Public History program at the University of San Diego. A life-long history enthusiast, her educational and professional background includes museums, archives, historic preservation and archaeology. She currently works as an independent historian, researching and writing historical register nominations in addition to other types of reports and projects.
Enjoying historic architecture from all periods, her personal interests extend to studying the history of live variety entertainment and other aspects of nineteenth and twentieth century American culture. She is an authority on San Diego's bygone Hollywood Burlesque Theatre and is co-authoring a book on the general history of American burlesque for Speck/ Fulcrum Press, due out Spring 2010. In her spare time, she plays bass in the local rock band Nautical Disaster.
