Volunteer Profile
Ruth Martinson was born in Pittsburgh, raised in the Midwest where she received a liberal arts BA in St. Paul, and finally settled in San Diego in 1954. She retired in 2000 from a teaching career that spanned nearly 50 years. She has been involved with SOHO for several years and has been volunteering loyally at the Whaley House since November 2000. Ruth is especially good at fielding questions from the many "ghost hunters" who come through the house, and loves to share some of the more believable stories with people looking for a good scare. She has a great love and respect for the past and is glad to see it preserved for the eductaion and enjoyment of generations to come. When not at the Whaley House, Ruth spends much of her time playing with her two local grandchildren: Delpha and Martin.
